Chef Matthew Gilbert is a locally known chef hailing from Northeastern Pennsylvania. From a young age, he found his passion for cooking and pursued it with unwavering determination. His culinary journey began when he trained under talented local chefs who honed his skills and ignited his creativity in the kitchen.

From his early beginnings at the Highlands in Dallas, PA, where he started cooking at the tender age of 15, Matthew’s passion for food has been a lifelong journey.

Born and raised in Dallas, PA, Matthew’s humble upbringing instilled in him a deep appreciation for simple, locally-sourced ingredients and the art of creating delicious meals from scratch. He honed his culinary skills through countless hours of experimentation and self-guided learning, fueled by his unwavering determination and love for cooking.

Matthew’s talent and dedication to his craft shone brightly as he garnered a wealth of experience and expertise in various cuisines and cooking techniques.

In 2018 Matthew took the helm as the head chef of Kevin’s Bar and Restaurant. With his innovative approach to culinary creations, Matthew has elevated the dining experience at Kevin’s to new heights, delighting guests with his exceptional culinary skills and culinary vision.

Matthew’s culinary philosophy revolves around showcasing the ingredients’ natural flavors and creating unique and unforgettable taste experiences for his diners. He takes pride in utilizing local, seasonal produce and crafting each dish with meticulous attention to detail and a dash of his creative flair.

Outside the kitchen, Matthew remains passionate about mentoring aspiring chefs, sharing his culinary knowledge, and inspiring others to pursue their culinary dreams.
