Check Out Our New Summer Menu!

With every season, Kevin’s Restaurant updates our menu to stay fresh with the popular ingredients of the season and do something new for our regulars. For the summer, we’ve updated some existing recipes with some new ingredients and replaced some dishes completely. Some dishes have left our new summer menu and have been replaced by items with ingredients that pair well with the warm weather. Come to Kevin’s Restaurant to see what’s new!

The New Dishes of Our Summer Menu

Food comes from crops and cattle, so some items can go in and out of season. This means that they can become either more expensive to purchase, unavailable in bulk, or just don’t taste as good in the climate we’re in. We make changes based on these factors and many more.

For example, the winter commonly has citrus fruits, root vegetables, mussels, and kale. You’re more likely to see recipes including these ingredients in winter, but not as much in the summer. Ingredients that are more readily available in the summer include:

  • Radishes
  • Arugula
  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumber
  • Plums
  • Bell peppers
  • Carrots
  • Zucchini
  • Corn
  • Garlic
  • And more…

Most meats are raised all-year-round across the country and the world with modern raising tactics. Plants that produce vegetables, fruits, and herbs are also grown year-round, but not to the extent that meat is. You’ll see how our new dishes reflect this.

Salmon Falafel Cake

On the spring menu, we offered the Spring Onion Falafel. Falafels are a Middle Eastern dish made by deep-frying a fritter of meat or vegetable. A similar recipe on our spring menu used onion as the fritter base, while our summer recipe uses salmon instead. We also don’t make them into balls, but cakes. The one thing that remains the same is the tzatziki sauce we use.

Pineapple Goat Cheese Wontons

Wontons are delicious pasta pockets stuffed with things from meat, to red sauce, to cheese, and everything in between. Our wontons come stuffed in pineapple and goat cheese to make a sweet and fruity appetizer that also comes covered in sweet & spicy soy sauce. We’re willing to bet that you’ve never had wontons like these before.

Mandarin Arugula Salad

Every section of our menu was updated, and that includes our salad selection. Our new salad recipe comes with a mix of summer fruits and vegetables like blueberries, dried cherries, and arugula, along with some year-round ingredients like mandarin oranges, almonds, blue cheese, and passion fruit vinaigrette.

Chilean Sea Bass

The Chilean Sea Bass is a toothfish that can be found in the southernmost portions of the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, and Southern Oceans. It’s a high-protein fish that’s low in carbs, and not always the most readily available fish on the market. In our recipe, we pair it with sweet corn puree, roasted fingerling potatoes, pearl onions, and asparagus to make it a fully-feature entree.
